The Sierra Club is America's oldest, largest, and most influential grassroots environmental organization. The Club promotes conservation by influencing public policy through grassroots activism, public education, lobbying, and litigation. We work to defend the environment at all levels of government including U.S. Congress, state legislatures, and state and federal courts.Our MissionExplore, enjoy and protect the wild places of the earth. Practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources. Educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment. Use all lawful means to carry out these objectives. The Pennsylvania Chapter Sierra Club was organized in the early 1970s and is comprised of iver 26,000 members, In 1983 the Chapter opened an office in Harrisburg to conduct chapter business operations and lobby state legislators on environmental policies.
