Green Lorax Community are committed to promoting a conscious, healthy, self-sustainable way of life based on community ethics, shared values, peaceful co-existence and a profound, harmonious spiritual connection between all beings.
They exist as a way to provide educational resources to members of our community at a equitable Cost, and also to offer charitable services when needed.
Their project focuses primarily upon teaching others how to cultivate, forage, consciously buy and mindfully prepare food for themselves and their families. Our main objectives are based upon a philosophy of peaceful (Ahimsa) co-existence with nature and other species as part of our everyday existence and community ethic.
The Culinary aspects of their Community Spaces/Garden Sanctuaries focus chiefly upon food preparation and nutritional education outfitted toward transitioning people regarding a more plant-based diet and planet-friendly lifestyle. They present healthy food preparation demonstrations and classes, in addition to occasional potlucks, brunches, and luncheon and dinner social events. Sharing and providing freshly made treats from their kitchens and gardens at community events relating to public awareness of relevant issues is an important aspect of their mission.
The Agricultural aspects of their project places particular prominence on heirloom and organic gardening practices from an ahimsa and environmentally sound perspective.
Many of their seedlings are planted in outdoor garden spaces during the warm seasons, as the remainder may be provided for other community garden projects or offered as gifts to members of their community to nurture and cultivate in their own homes. They offer hands-on learning experiences in the form of wild foraging and permaculture/sustainable living workshops as well.
Support for our local farms and growers are a core value of their mission, for the sake of both physical well-being and the health of our fragile economies.
They encourage their members to support small, ethically sound food producers and local markets by providing them with information and compulsory tools to make informed purchases when dealing directly with farms. Their members are also offered the unique opportunity to buy premium, organically grown, ethically produced goods at affordable prices through their partners and often below cost by making bulk purchases as a community effort.
