Here at the Complete Wellness Center, we know just how dangerous some seemingly healthy foods can be for our bodies. Of course, we all want our children and our family to grow up health and strong. Here are just some of the recommendations from our team about what to do when it comes to avoiding low quality foods.
The most important and simple step is to read the food labels. For example, MSG is often present in foods that are not actually labeled as containing MSG. Foods like hydrolyzed protein, gelatin, yeast extract, textured protein all contain MSG in most cases. Also, if a food is labeled low fat, 99% of the time, it will contain MSG in some form for flavor. Also avoid low carbohydrate processed foods as well.
The second recommendation is to avoid or try to minimize eating any processed foods. These include canned, boxed, bagged, and frozen.
We also recommend avoiding sugar - that is white processed sugar and artificial sweeteners. You can use stevia as a natural low calorie sweetener, honey and even maple syrup for those on a Vegan Diet.
