Here at the Schacht Fleece and Meat Farm, we raise local Free Range Chicken for eggs and meat. We also have free-range turkeys, pastured hogs and grassfed on our farm.
Both the land and the animals here are managed naturally and organically. We don't use any form of chemicals as we believe that they are toxic and have negative impact on both our health and the health of our animals.
All of our animals are raised outdoors in their natural environment where they are free to express their behavior. We believe this makes for happy animals, happy eggs and ultimately, healthy customers.
When it comes to eggs, there is nothing else that we'd recommend other than fresh, free range eggs - produce locally. Much like ours.
In fact, there are many ways to enjoy eggs and one of the best ways is for breakfast - with a simple Mexican style Omelette.
To make our Mexican Style Omelette, you'd need half of a small red capsicum - finely chopped, two shallots - thinly sliced, one small fresh red chilli - finely chopped, two free range eggs, one tablespoon of milk, Salt and freshly ground pepper, two teaspoons of oil, two tablespoons of chopped fresh coriander and about two teaspoons of lime juice.
First, you'd need to combine capsicum, shallots and chilli. Then, use a fork to whisk eggs and milk together and season well with salt and pepper.
Heat oil in a small non-stick frying pan over medium high heat and add about half the capsicum mixture and cook for 2 mins. Then, pour over eggs and reduce heat to medium and cook for 7-9 mins until set.
Carefully turn omelette out onto a serving plate. You can add coriander and lime juice to remaining capsicum mixture for extra freshness. Remember to season with salt and pepper.
