Here at the Grinning Planet, we talk about the all important facts and news events that is happening around the world - from politics to finance to the environment.
One of our most popular articles talks about the controversy around Biomass and whether it is in fact enough to save our world.
Everyone knows that biomass is 100% natural, carbon neutral and renewable. However, there is one potential problem with using biomass. In order to be thought of as sustainable, biomass cannot be used faster than it grows back. We use it up faster then it can be produced - like fossil fuel. That is, it's not sustainable at all.
That is one of the reasons why so many villages in Africa have an increasing so-called "barren ring" around them. Villagers venture further and further in their forests on an unsustainable quest to continue gathering more and more wood that nature can grow back fast enough.
