Fresh organic vegetables. Cooperative farm-centered community. Sustainability of local agriculture. These are the basic principles behind Stonebridge Farm, a community-supported farm (CSA) outside of Lyons, Colorado. Established in 1992, Stonebridge offers seasonal memberships of organic produce, herbs, and flowers. Every Saturday from early May to late October, members come to the farm for their share of the delicious vegetables picked fresh that morning. Stonebridge also organizes events such as the annual pancake breakfast and end-of-season Halloween party. Run by farmers John Martin and Kayann Short, Stonebridge works to educate the public about the important place of organic food production in a healthy community. Members not only discover the pleasure of eating seasonally, but also help sustain agricultural land and preserve family farms in Boulder County.
