Recycling Competitions for Students

Here at the Association of Ohio Recyclers, we work together to strengthen Ohio’s Economy through waste reduction, reuse, and recycling.

We like to brings members and like-minded individuals together for annual two day conferences to discuss best and next practices.

Our group here at the Association of Ohio Recyclers are in partnership with Keep America Beautiful. This is aimed to encourage recycling awareness and behavior change through student competitions in Ohio - all the way to colleges and universities.

Recycle-Bowl is a fun and friendly competition to promote recycling. In its initial year, over 1223 schools joined in to reach more than 544,000 students. This resulted in more than 3 million pounds of materials being Recycled - Ohio had one of the highest participation rates in the country.

RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs. This is aimed to promote waste reduction to their campus communities. This is actually a nationwide competition which began here in Ohio over 10 years ago. In 2011, the per capita winner collected 56 pounds of recyclables per person.
